TREK OVIERVIEW: The trek to Ghorepani - Poon Hill (Pun Hill)
which is located in Annapurna region, is truly called as all
the best of the trekking in Nepal.
The trek offers the spectacular mountain scenery along with
charming villages inhabited particularly by the Gurungs &
Magars, dense rhododendron forests full of birds and deep sub-tropical
valleys, all set below the Annapurnas with the picturesque peak
of Machhapuchhare (Fishtail Peak) dominating the skyline.
One of the important highlight of this trip is to make a climb
on Poon Hill, possibly the most spectacular mountain scapes
on Earth. When sun rises, it touches the snow-capped summits
the Himalayan giants, Dhaulagiri (8,167m) and Annapurna (8,091m)
along with a maze of other peaks, there gradually appear, just
like magic that your eye could not believe.
Besides, during journey, you are rewarded by the natural beauties
in your each & every footsteps.
Day 1 - Arrive at Kathmandu International Airport.
Your Bhutanese representative from Raven Tours and Treks
will greet you on arrival and drive you to the hotel where you
will be staying.
Later Sightseeing tour of Swayambunth & Kathmandu Durbar
Square.
Swayambunath is one of the world's most glorious Buddhist Chaitya.
It is said to be 2000 years old. Painted on the foursides of
the spdire bases are the all seeing eyes of Lord Buddha. It
is three kilometeres west of Kathmandu city and is situated
on a hillock about 77 m. above the level of the Kathmandu Valley.
Kahmandu Durbar Square is the historic seat of ty. The Durbar
Square, with its old temples and places, epitomizes the religious
and cultural life of the people. It is here that Kings of Nepal
are crowned and their coronations solemnized. Interesting things
to seek here are; Taleju Temple built by King Mahendra Malla
in 1549 A.D., Kal Bhairav, the God of destruction, Nautalle
Durbar, Coronation Nasal Chowk, the Gaddi Baithak, the statue
of King Pratap Malla, the Big Bell, Drum and the Jagannath Temple.In
the evening welcome meal with Nepali traditional dance.
Later in the evening you will be taken to the typical Nepali
restaurant (Bhojan Grihia) for dinner and will be hosting traditional
dances.

Day 2 - In Kathmandu
After breakfast proceed for city tour of Kathmandu visiting
Pashupatinath and Boudhanath.
Pashupatinath Temple is situated 5 km east of Kathmandu,
the temple of Lord Shiva, Pathupatinath with two tierd golden
roof and silver doors is considered one of the holiest shrines
of Hindus.
The stupa of Boudhanath lies 8kms east of Kathmandu.
This ancient colossal stupa is one of the biggest in the world
and the center of Buddhism in the world. It was listed in the
UNESCO Heritage Monument in 1979.
Later proceed for city tour of Kathmandu visiting Patan Square,
complex of palaces, courtyard and temples, built between
the 12th and 18th centuries, use to be the seat of the ancient
Malla kings of Kathmandu.
Later stroll around the city of Thamel.
Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 3 - Kathmandu to Pokhara to Tikhedunga
The Pokhara Valley one of the most picturesque spot of Nepal,
is enchanted by its lovely lakes Phewa, Begnas and Rupa. Situated
200 kilometers west of Kathmandu, Pokhara is connected by air
as well or by road from Kathmandu. Situated at an altitude of
827 meter from the sea-level, Pokhara offers the magnificent
views of Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Machhapuchhre, five peaks of Annapurna
and others. Pokhara's numerous lake, known as 'Tal' in Nepali
offer fishing, boating and swimming. Wake up early morning to
catch the sunrise over the Himalayan range.
Early morning private transport from Kathmandu to Pokhara. During
the drive we will already have stunning views on the mighty
Himalaya massifs which rise above 8.000m, like Manaslu and Annapurna.
We will start trekking from Naya Pull after a 1 hour
drive with a private vehicle from Pokhara.
After 15 minutes short walk along the bank of the Modi Khola,
we reach Birethanti (1.015 meters) a large village that
has many shops and teahouses. From there, the trail continues
through the village. The trail follows the north bank of the
Bhurungdi Khola. From there, the trail climbs steadily up the
side of the valley to Hille at 1.495m and after the short
climb, we reach Tikhedhunga at 1.570 meters. Today's
walk offers a short and relatively easy day, during the journey
which allows us to become used to the experience of trekking
in Nepal.

Day 4 - Tikhedunga to Ghorepani
Leaving Tikhedunga, we begin our journey with a steep climb
to Ulleri. Ulleri is a large Magar village at 2.070 meters.
The trail then continues to ascend more gently, through fine
forests of oak and rhododendrons towards Banthanti at 2.250
meters. Then we trek towards Nangethanti at 2.460m. After another
hour of walking we will finally reach Ghorepani at 2.900
meters.

Day 5 - Ghorepani to Poon Hill to Tadapani
Today, very early in the morning, we start an hour hiking to
Poon Hill at elevation of 3.210 meters, a brilliant spectacle;
this vantage point provides a superb view of sunrise over the
high Himalayas, including the Annapurnas, Dhaulagiri and Machhapuchhare.
In Poon Hill we will spend about 1 hour, we then return to Ghorepani
we take a hot breakfast at the hotel and continue our trek to
Tadapani (2.600 meters).
Along the trail towards Tadapani, we make climb along
ridges and through pine- and rhododendron forests. Our final
destination for today, Tadapani, offers magnificent views of
Machhapuchhare and Annapurna South.

Day 6 -Tadapani to Ghandrung
Ghandrung (1.950m) is a large, prosperous Gurung village
and after arrival we have time to explore the maze of narrow
alleyways separating the neat slate-roofed houses and watch
the sunlight on Annapurna South and Hiunchuli.

Day 7 - Ghandrung to Pokhara to Kathmandu
From Ghandrung we descend to Syauli Bazaar. From Syauli
Bazaar it is a pleasant easy walk following the river to Birethanti
(1.040m) where we cross the bridge. A short walk from the village
brings us to the road at Naya Pull where we take transport
for the 1 hour drive into Pokhara.
Transfer back from Pokhara to Kathmandu by private transport.
Spend the rest of the day in Kathmandu at leisure.
Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 8 - Depart from Kathmandu International Airport.
Early breakfast at the hotel and then drive to the airport to
board the flight. Your escort from Raven Tours and Treks will
assist you with exit formalities and bid you farewell.
